Sir,
152 Treasury Chamber, 23 August, 1890.
I am directed by their Lordships to acknowledge receipt of Sir Thomas Sanderson's letter of the 14th instant with its enclosures, transmitting 2 sets of specimens of the new Canton provincial currency. Of the coins, one set has been retained in the Mint Museum, and the other has been sent to the India Office Department.
I am to acquaint you, for the information of the Deputy Master, that he reports that the weight of each coin is fairly correct.
Under Secretary of State Foreign Office.
